About the Event
The Freedom to Be campaign is an ACLU-led initiative that seeks to center the voices and experiences of trans people in America by creating a mobile monument to be installed on the National Mall next year. This art installation will comprise individual quilt squares decorated by trans people across the country as they answer the question, "What does it mean to be free as a trans person?” The campaign aims to shift the narrative about trans-Americans by illustrating an affirmative vision of trans joy in which everyone can live as their true, authentic selves.
Join us on Wednesday, March 12, at The Joy and Liberation Center, Margate as we design and create 6'x6' panels to be showcased in Washington, D.C., in coordination with DC Trans Pride. Each panel answers the prompt, "What does the freedom to be me look like?"
