About the Event
Public comment is one of the most direct ways community members can influence policy decisions at the local and state level. Whether speaking before a legislative committee, a school board, or a city commission, well-prepared public testimony can shape the record, impact votes, and build long-term accountability.
This training walks through when and where public comment happens, how to prepare concise and effective remarks, and what decision-makers are listening for. Participants will learn practical strategies for telling their story, staying on message, and using limited time to maximum effect. The focus is on turning personal experience and community concerns into meaningful advocacy.
